4th August – The Hollands Way Playground is now OPEN! We hope you enjoy the new equipment, which we think has really improved the playground. Please scroll down to see photos of the new equipment and a short video can be seen on our Facebook Page. The playground, village green swings and the cricket field gym equipment have been safety inspected. However, we cannot clean all of our play equipment once they are back in use to ensure that they are covid -free and so will be asking parents and carers to take reasonable precautions. There is signage up at each site advising you to socially distance, sanitise your hands regularly and not to use the equipment if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus.
13th July – Works are progressing well at the playground and the new equipment should be in place this week. The Government has advised parish councils that playgrounds can now re-open with social distancing measures in place. The Parish Council want to open the new equipment as soon as possible as we know the children are very excited to start using it! Please bear with us while we prepare the necessary risk assessments and signage, to ensure that we can re-open all the play equipment safely.
May 2020 – The Parish Council has placed the order for the new playground equipment with Eibe and works are expected to start on site at the end of June! A big thank you goes out to all those who have donated towards this project. We still need to raise a final £3000 and the Playground Working Group will be holding some more fundraising events once the lockdown is over. You can still make a donation directly to the project using the bank details below or by sending a cheque to our Clerk.
January 2020 – We are very pleased to announce that the Hollands Way Playground Project has been awarded £9972 of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund! A big thank you to the players of the National Lottery and to those who have donated so far.
Hollands Way Playground Revamp
The Parish Council has updated the Hollands Way Playground next to the Village Hall with a working group of parents, residents and parish councillors.
This is such an important space for children to play and socialise and we hope that everyone enjoys using the new facility.
What is new?
The new equipment includes a bespoke multiplay unit with multiple climbing apparatus and unique broad slide, a new toddler play unit with steps, slide and lookout platforms, bouncy lily pads, stand-up see-saw, trim trail, pick-up-sticks climbing frame and several other items. New rubber mulch surfacing now covers much of the playground, making it easier to use the equipment all year round.
How will it be funded?
The Parish Council are funding the project through various sources including Section 106 money from housing developments around the parish, Parish Council reserves, a National Lottery Grant, Community Initiative Funding from West Sussex County Council and through fundraising.
